“Suicide Blonde” makes their Clayton Town Square Concert Series debut on Thursday, August 16 in Clayton, NC. They are 80’s cover band extraordinaire!
Based out of Raleigh, Suicide Blonde is comprised of “children of the 80s” who have united to bring back the spirit of that incredible decade. With its lineup of experienced musicians, this exciting band well remembers what it was like to wear a mullet, hop in the Trans-Am and drive to the blaring sounds of AC-DC, David Bowie or the Cure. With a wealth of experience in many genres of music, Suicide Blonde brings the musicianship and unmistakable love of the 80s to transport the audience back to this unforgettable time of fun and excess.
Residents of Clayton are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for this “free” public concert. There are several local vendors who provide light refreshments and food. The Clayton Downtown Development Association, Inc. offer beer and wine for sale at each concert. Concert updates and other downtown news can be found by visiting www.downtownclayton.org
Several downtown restaurants offer pre-concert dinners including Clayton Steakhouse, 307 E Main Street, Festejos Mexican Grill, 905 E Main Street, The Flipside at 408 E Second Street, Mulberry on Main Italian Restaurant, 217 E Main Street as well as Primo Pizza, 226 E Main Street, and Lucky Chicken Peruvian Restaurant, 226 E Main Street.
The focus of the concert series remains quality entertainment and bringing people to downtown Clayton, but this year’s series will also have a charitable component. The board of directors of the Clayton Downtown Development Association, Inc. (CDDA, Inc) has adopted the theme of “Downtown Clayton Gives Back,” and will donate the proceeds from the sale of $1.00 concert koozies to Johnston County Relay for Life at the end of the series in September. The 2012 Concert Series koozies are pink for cancer awareness.
Sponsors of the Concert Series are the Town of Clayton, Grifols, Clayton Steakhouse, Hometowne Realty, Zaxby’s, KB Home and Joe Mama’s Mobile Stages.
All concert dates, except September 13, are the third Thursday of the month from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Town Square at 100 W Main Street in downtown Clayton, rain or shine!
Upcoming concerts are: Sept 13 Nantucket
